Aimee's Castle
Lake Elsinore, CA
Aimee's Castle was designed by Edwin Bickman and built in 1929 in a Moorish Revival and Art Deco style. The retreat house was built for Sister Aimee, a radio evangelist. For more, see this website. [map]

Mt. Whitney Hotel

This Mt. Whitney Hotel was built in 1929. It was the first hotel in the Central Valley with air conditioning. [map]

City Hall
Livermore, CA
The Livermore City Hall building was built as Independence Hall, a boarding house, in 1875. It was later used as a bank. From 1905-1957, the building housed the town hall, jail, and firehouse. These Art Deco details are from a remodeling in 1937. The ground floor now houses the Chantilly Lace Salon. [map]

The building currently houses Blooming Affair Floral & Gifts and other retail stores. The building appears to be from the 1930s or 1940s. [map]

This medical office was built in 1937. It was designed for Russell Guerne DeLappe, an architect, and his father, a doctor. This photo is from 2014. Around 2018, the louvers above the door were removed and the door was boarded up. [map]

The Bonanza Tortilleria was built as a Safeway supermarket. It opened in 1937. After this photo was taken in 2008, the canopy around the building fell off and was removed. [map]

This Napa Auto Parts store looks like it was originally a supermarket or department store from the 1940s. [map]

Aztec Hotel
Monrovia, CA
