Bun-N-Burger
Alhambra, CA
The Bun-N-Burger opened in 1941. The signs are from 1950. For more, see this website. [map]

Hazel's Drive-in
Antioch, CA
Hazel's Drive-in opened in 1947. There was car hop service originally. [map]

Ambrosia Indian Bistro
Aptos, CA
The Ambrosia Indian Bistro opened around 2008 in the building that previously housed the Blue Spoon restaurant. I don't know if that was the original occupant. The building appears to be from the 1950s or 1960s. [map]

Rod's Grill
Arcadia, CA
Rod's Grill was part of a small restaurant chain which was established in 1946. This location opened in 1957 and was the last one operating. It closed in 2023. [map]

Taco Lita
Arcadia, CA
Taco Lita opened in 1967 as #15 in the chain. This is the only location left. I believe the original location was built in 1958 in San Bernardino, CA. There were other locations in Ontario, Pomona, San Gabriel, and elsewhere in Southern California. [map]

Taco Treat
Arcadia, CA
Porky's BBQ
Barstow, CA
Taco Treat opened in 1969. [map]

Porky's BBQ was known as the Hot Dog Stand in the 1960s. The building has been vacant since around 2018. The building has been painted red. For more, see this website. [map]

Madlon's Restaurant
Big Bear, CA
Madlon's Restaurant was built in the mid-1970s as the Knusperhauschen Restaurant. It became Madlon's in 1955. It closed around 2018. The building now houses Pickle's Pie Shop. [map]

Courtesy Coffee Shop
Blythe, CA
The Courtesy Coffee Shop opened in 1964. The boomerang roof design evident on the side of the building must have been inspired by Denny's. The top panel of the sign must have revolved originally. It has been closed since around 2021. [map]

Doughnut Hut
Burbank, CA
Chili John's
Burbank, CA
I believe the Doughnut Hut opened in the 1950s. [map]

Chili John's first location opened in Green Bay, WI in 1913. The Burbank location opened in 1946. Both restaurants are still operating. However, the Green Bay location is now located in a strip mall. The Burbank location features a U-shaped counter. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

Burbank, CA
This Lemonade Restaurant location was built in 1963 as a Forest E. Olson Realtors office. [map]
