Pierceton, IN
This Masonic Lodge was founded in 1900. This sign which features backlit glass globes is probably from at least the 1950s. [map]

The Post originally had a neon sign which was probably installed in the 1950s. This sign was installed in 1968. The hands on the clock are gone now. For more, see this website. [map]

Clover West Motel
Plainfield, IN
Mayflower Tavern
Plymouth, IN
Portage Liquors
Portage, IN
The Clover West Motel was part of the Superior Motel referral chain in the 1960s. Members of the chain agreed to certain standards and recommended other member motels. They also gave out free directories with listings of the hundeds of other Superior Motels. The top plastic panels of this sign would have looked like this then. The panels were broken by 2007 and were replaced by 2011 with those shown here. There was another Clover West Motel which was also a Superior Motel in Indianapolis, IN. [map]

The Mayflower Tavern opened in 1949 and this sign appears to be from then. [map]

This spinning sign on the roof of Portage Liquors was probably built in the 1960s. It is no longer operational and the city sign code prohibits the spinning action. I have never seen another one like this. The owner said that he has another one in storage. [map]

More Plymouth:
Penguin Point
Tri-Way Drive-in

Smith Jewelry
Princeton, IN
Smith Jewelry opened in 1946. This sign is probably from the 1950s. The store was vacant by 2022 but this sign remains. [map]

Indiana State Police [gone]
Redkey, IN

2010:

Indiana State Police
Putnamville, IN

2025:

This Indiana State Police sign in Redkey was probably built in the 1950s. By 2013, the sign had supposedly been moved to the Greencastle office. However, that sign appears to be modern, is not the same shape, and the neon tubing holes are in different spots. I don't know if the Redkey sign is somewhere else or if it's inside the Putnamville office. For more, see this website. [map]

Hood Music [gone]
Richmond, IN
Rose Dale Motel [gone]
Rochester, IN
Hood Music was a musical instruments store. This sign was still there when this photo was taken in 2009. By 2015, the sign was gone.

The Rose Dale Motel signs were probably from the 1950s. These photos are from 2009. By 2014, the signs were gone.

Kleptz Bar & Restaurant [gone]
Seelyville, IN
Paris Style
Seymour, IN
The Kleptz Bar & Restaurant sign looks like it might have been from the 1940s. The restaurant is still there but the sign was removed in 2009. For more, see this website.

The first Paris Style women's clothing store opened in Washington, IN in 1933. This sign was from the second store which opened in Seymour in 1934. There were at least eight stores in other Indiana cities by the early 1960s. This sign is probably from the 1940s or 1950s. It was evidently saved and moved around the corner to a parking lot sometime after the store closed. [map]

Mygrant Music
Sharpsville, IN
Standard Oil
Sharpsville, IN
Sandman Brothers
Shelbyville, IN
The Mygrant Music House store that was located in Kokomo is long gone. This sign is now installed at "A Summer Place", a private collection in Sharpsville. For more, see this website.

This Standard Oil sign is also located at "A Summer Place." I don't know where it was installed before this.

Sandman Brothers opened in 1918 as the Sandman Tire and Bicycle Shop. The business began selling Buicks in 1931. Soon after that, Sandman added Pontiacs and GMC trucks. In 2025, the company became a GMC dealership and sells other makes of used cars. This adapted Pontiac sign is across the street from the main showroom on the used car lot. It is probably from the 1950s or 1960s. [map]
