The Grill Bar opened in 1947 and this sign appears to be from then. The sign had been painted red but was painted black by 2018. [map]

The Sleep N Time Motel sign appeared to be from the 1950s or earlier. This photo was taken in 2009. By 2014, the sign had been repainted black with red letters. The "No Vacancy" letters had been covered over. By 2018, the sign was gone.

Smith's Cleaners had been abandoned for many years. Around 2024, the building was demolished but the sign remains. [map]

Walt's Fine Foods is long gone but this sign remains. It was probably built in the 1950s. [map]

Hunters Inn opened in 1934. This sign might have been installed then. Around 2024, the sign was either replicated or restored. The neon had been missing for decades. It now has LED tubing. For more, see this website. [map]

Miller Drugs closed around 2009. This sign appears to be from the 1950s. In 2012, the building began housing the Marshall J. Gardner Center for the Arts. By 2013, the neon bottom panel which read "DRUGS" had been adapted with a plastic panel for the Miller Beach Arts & Creative District. [map]

The Miller Bakery opened in 1941 and this sign is from then. The business closed around 2010. It reopened as the Miller Bakery and Cafe in 2013 but closed in 2019. In 2023, the building began housing Tiny's Coffee Bar and this sign remains. [map]

Sorg Jewelers was founded in Roanoke, IL in 1900. This Goshen store opened in the early 1930s. The storefront is faced with vitrolite in pristine condition. The sign is lit at night. Moore's Bar opened in 1950 and this sign is probably from then. [map]

Taff Furniture was established in 1935 and is still operating. The sign is probably from the 1950s. It was previously painted green. It was repainted this grayish blue around 2022. I believe this sign may have been built for the Schultz Furniture store which was operating at this location by the late 1950s. Note that the tubing holes at the bottom of this sign do not line up with "Taff" but might have for the name "Schultz." [map]

The Griffith Furniture store opened here in 1963. This sign is probably from then or it might have been adapted from a previous business since it appears to be from the 1950s. The store had been closed by 2008. In 2013, the sign was adapted with backlit plastic letters for Griffith Billiards. The bulbs and neon at the top of the sign were kept. For more, see this website. Horseshoe Casino

Welliver's Smorgasbord opened in 1946. The restaurant closed in 2009. This sign was still there in 2012 when this photo was taken. By 2013, the sign was gone.

This Horseshoe Casino is part of a chain with nine other locations owned by Caesars Entertainment. This location was built in 1996 as an Empress Casino. It was rebranded as the Horseshoe Casino in 2001 and this sign is probably from then. [map]
