This Odd Fellows Lodge was founded in 1835. This sign is probably from the 1950s. [map]

The Stein Glass Company opened here in 1939. The sign is probably from the 1950s or 1960s. [map]

I believe The Fair was some sort of department store. It closed in 1989 but the sign still remains. [map]

Schmitt Furniture opened in 1936. By 2018, the smaller sign (above left) was gone. The larger sign was installed in the 1960s. It was removed in 2019 during building renovation. In 2021, only the smaller sign had been reinstalled. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map]

The Post originally had a neon sign which was probably installed in the 1950s. This sign was installed in 1968. The hands on the clock are gone now. For more, see this website. [map]

The Mayflower Tavern opened in 1949 and this sign appears to be from then. [map]

This spinning sign on the roof of Portage Liquors was probably built in the 1960s. It is no longer operational and the city sign code prohibits the spinning action. I have never seen another one like this. The owner said that he has another one in storage. [map]

This Standard Oil sign is also located at "A Summer Place." I don't know where it was installed before this.

Bo-Mac's Drive In opened in 1960. This sign appears to have been recently refurbished. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

This Masonic Lodge sign is probably from the 1950s. I've not seen one with this design before. The sign was not there in 2022 or 2023. It might be gone now. [map]

The Steer Inn opened in 1956 and this sign appears to be from then. I believe it closed in the 1980s. The steer head at the top of the sign was painted over for the Heartland Cafe. The building is no longer used as a restaurant. [map]

The EAT sign is installed at the Kitchenette Restaurant which had opened by 1953. The sign was probably installed around then. [map]

The Green Star Cafe had opened by 1938 and this sign appears to be from around then. I assume it was a restaurant originally but has been a bar for many years. [map]

This Mobilgas Pegasus sign is installed at the former Tony's Mobil Service. The pumps were removed by 2023 and the business is now operating as Tony's Towing & Service. This appears to be a vintage sign not a reproduction. It fell during a storm in 2001 but was rebuilt and reinstalled. For more, see this website. [map]

The Victory Bar signs were probably from the 1950s. They were gone by 2017.

The Hickory Inn Budget Motel sign might have had more neon at one time. The plastic name box may indicate that it was originally named something else. This photo is from 2006. By 2011, the name had been changed to Relax Inn and the bottom parts of the arrows had been removed. By 2025, the sign was gone. For more, see this website.
