The Pang-Ford Motel had opened by 1954 and this sign appears to be from around then. The metal bars with bulbs were added later, probably in the 1960s. The plastic "Motel" letters surely must have been neon originally. There was a fire in 2025 and the motel is closed now. For more, see this website. [map]
S&H Carbonic Inc. sold fire extinguishers and safety equipment. This sign is probably from the 1950s. This photo is from 2010. By 2017, the store had closed and the sign was gone. This neon catfish sign at the Oakdale Bar & Grill might be from the 1950s. The business originally opened around 1925 when the Oakdale Dam was built. It was named the Oakdale Inn and had lodging and food. It was later known as the Oakdale Dam Inn. |

| The Oasis Bar & Grill opened in 1952 and this sign was installed then. The sign had not been fully lit since at least the 1980s. In 2021, it was restored by Finyl Vinyl Signs. There was a 20-foot-tall chainsaw carving of a basketball player in front of the bar in the early 2000s. By 2005, all that remained was his shoes. Those were gone by 2021. [map] |
