former station [gone]
Santa Barbara, CA
This former station was built from prefabricated metal around 1925. It was on the lot of International Imports, a repair garage. It was gone by 2022.

Santa Barbara, CA
This former station was built around 1924. It is also prefabricated metal. The building is now used by Econo Auto Center, a repair shop. [map]

former station
Santa Clarita, CA
This former station might also be from a prefabricated kit. The station is not in use but the structure behind it appears to be a residence. [map]

2019:
This prefabricated metal former station was built in 1925. It may have been built as a Shell station. The building housed the M. Toich & Son auto repair shop for many years. By 2018, the building was surrounded by chain link fencing. There are plans to construct a condo building next door. This station will supposedly be preserved since it has been declared a "potential historic resource." In 2020, construction was going on behind the station. [map]

2014:
This prefabricated metal former station was built in 1938. The city refers to it as the Bill Chun station. The building features a tiny office and a huge canopy. Around 1990, this was a Texaco station. I don't know what brand was sold here originally. The station has been vacant for many years. Between 2008 and 2014, the building was refurbished and the chain link fencing was removed. It was still vacant in 2020. The building is locally landmarked. For more, see this website. [map]

Lemon Cove, CA

2013:

2023:
This former station has been vacant since at least 2008. By 2021, this building and the one to the left of it had been restored and repainted. [map]

former station
Fresno, CA
This former station was built in 1926 as a Standard Oil station. Nearly half of the building was designed as an ice house. In 1928, the building was purchased by Russ Clements who operated the station until he died in 1986. The service building behind the station office (bottom row of photos above) was added in 1934. Both buildings now house Van Ness Auto Repair. Although there are Texaco and Standard pumps on display, this station never sold either. It was selling Chevron until it closed in 1998. Today, it is just a service garage. [map]
