The Plan-Ex Corporation, a food store equipment supplier, was established in 1955. This sign may be from then or the 1960s. The company appears to be gone now but the sign remains. By 2021, the panels had been removed and the supporting poles had been painted black. [map]
The Satellite Motel sign is probably from the 1960s. This photo is from 2012. By 2013, the panels had been replaced with new flat plastic versions. These panels have either faded terribly or been painted black. [map]
The Stinnett's Food Market sign is from the late 1950s or early 1960s. [map]

The South Plains Fair was held for the first time in 1914. This sign was built in the mid-1950s. It was restored in 2022. [map]

former Fiesta Bowl and Fiesta Grill Lubbock, TX |

The Fiesta Bowl and Fiesta Grill were built in 1960. These signs are from then. By 1966, the bowling alley was known as the Brunswick Fiesta Bowl. The "BOWL" sign which was just to the right of the bulb-studded "FIESTA" sign is gone now. The neon is now missing from the Fiesta Grill sign. The building now houses the Fiesta Center, an event space. [map]

Mrs. Baird's Bread was established in 1908. The company bought this bakery building in 1960. This sign is probably from then. Sometime between 2013 and 2016, the neon letters were removed from the building. The porcelain enamel letters on the facade are still there. [map]

Bolton's Gas was built by the local Bolton Oil Company. The sign is probably from the 1950s. There were about a dozen other Bolton's gas stations built in Lubbock and a few are still open. I don't know if this sign was the only one built or if it's just the only one left. [map]

The Koko Palace was built between 1961 and 1963 and this sign appears to be from then. It was the banquet facility for the Koko Inn which was just to the south. [map]

Teddy Jack's Hub City Grill Lubbock, TX |

Teddy Jack's Hub City Grill opened in 2015. These are modern signs built in a vintage style. Another location, Teddy Jack's Armadillo Grill, with similar signs opened in 2017 in Amarillo, TX. [map]
