The Circus Room nightclub opened in 1962. This sign appears to be from then. [map]
The American Legion Post 54 was dedicated in 1949. This sign may date from then. By 2025, the Post was gone and so was this sign. The Big Texan Steak Ranch opened in 1960. When I-40 was built in 1970, the restaurant and sign were moved here. The sign originally had neon and bulbs and was much closer to the ground. | The Cowboy Motel was built in 1948 as the Del Camino Motel. It became The Cowboy Motel in 1954. This sign is believed to be from 1963. By 2013, the sign was repainted and the neon and bulb holes were plugged. The cowboy was not repainted. In 2024, a grant was awarded to paint the sign and add neon. [map] |

The Cattleman's Club & Cafe opened in 1952 and this sign might be from then. It had neon originally. In 2025, the sign was removed for restoration with grant money. It was reinstalled and relit with neon in 2026. [map]
The Ding How Restaurant opened in 1956. It has been closed for many years. Around 2012, the sign was painted over. In 2024, the sign was removed. The new property owner is contemplating restoring it. [map] |

| The Toot'n Totum Food Store chain with locations in the Texas Panhandle was established in 1950. I believe the stores were originally freestanding but are now built with gas stations. This sign installed on the building at the Toot'n Totum Support Center, the corporate headquarters. The sign appears to be from the 1950s and was probably at a different store location originally as a pole sign. It appears to be double-sided. [map] |
