The Travelodge in Vandalia featured a 60-foot-tall replica of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis which is 70 miles away. It was designed and built in 1965 by Harry Mabry who owned the Travelodge at the time. The sign near the top of the arch was removed around 2018. The motel is now an America's Best Value Inn but the arch remains. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]
The Archway RV Park has another Gateway Arch inspired sign. The business was previously known as the Quality Times RV Park. I don't know when the sign was installed. [map] This 50-foot-tall Gateway Arch in Peoria was originally built for a Kroger supermarket. It was in storage at Lutz Steel and installed here in 1987 for Neal Auto Parts. In 2013, the original car from 1982 was replaced and the arch was repainted. There is another one of these adapted signs in St. Louis, MO and another one in Nashville, TN which has been adapted. This Bathhouse at Adeline Geo-Karis Illinois Beach State Park is one of two identical buildings constructed in 1960. The structures behind the buildings with spiral stairs were used as lifeguard towers. They were designed by Richard Barancik of Barancick & Conte and have been abandoned for decades.
