This modular kiosk is used as a parking payment booth. This booth and the ticket vending machines appear to be mid-century modern but maybe they are more recent than that. [map]
Rockford Products was established in 1929 as the Rockford Screw Products Company. It was once the world's largest manufacturers of fasteners and other industrial products. This led to Rockford's nickname of "Screw City." The plant expanded many times over the years. I believe this administrative building was built from 1961-1964. The company closed in 2016 and the building has been vacant since then. The fence around the property has different screws and bolts on top of each picket. There is also a clocktower with screws and bolts instead of numbers. [map] |
