City Liquor

Starlite Motel

Main Cafe [gone]
Springfield, CO
Rabbit Ears Motel
Steamboat Springs, CO
The City Liquor sign might be from the 1950s or 1960s. It was repainted around 2018. [map]

The Starlite Motel sign is probably from the 1960s. There was a neon sign there in the 1950s. In 2012, the sign was repainted and the corrugated plastic text panels were replaced with flat ones. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

The Main Cafe is long gone. The building housed at least a couple of other restaurants after that and the sign remained. I believe the building is currently vacant. The sign was gone by 2021.

The Rabbit Ears Motel opened in 1953 and this sign is from then. It was originally painted red and green. The gap between the sign's arrow has been filled in with a panel. The bulbs that outlined the arrow were originally sequentially lit. The rabbit's eyes were originally lit with blue neon and flashed on and off, from left to right. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map]

This First National Bank sign is probably from the 1950s or 1960s. There was probably a clock feature at the bottom of the sign where the LED message board is now. For more, see this website. [map]

The Trinidad Lounge sign might have been from the 1960s or 1970s. The lettering and name appeared to be more modern than that. This sign was still there in 2012 but gone by 2018.

Sarti's Bar opened in 1971. The neon sign might be older than that and have been reworked. For more, see this website. [map]

The Starlite Inn sign is probably from the 1950s. The bar has housed Paco's Starlite Tavern since at least 2008. The neon has been missing since at least then. [map]

This neon ice cream sign topper is located at the New Century Chinese restaurant. The restaurant housed a Mexican restaurant in 2007. Surely, this must have been an ice cream stand or drive-in originally. [map]

Fireside Cafe
Walsenburg, CO
2012: 2022:
The Fireside Cafe entrance appears to be from the 1930s or 1940s. The blade sign may have been reworked at some point. Fireside may not be the original name. The panel beneath the cocktail glass read "BAR" in the 1980s. Does anyone know the history of this place? The business had closed by 2018. By 2021, the sign's neon was removed and replaced with LED rope and the building was still vacant. For more, see this website. [map]
