Big Bunny Motel
Lakewood, CO
2012: 2023:
The Big Bunny Motel was built in 1952 and this sign is probably from then. It was known as the Bugs Bunny Motel until around 1997 when legal action from Warner Brothers forced the name change. The lettering on the sign was altered at that point. In 2015, the sign was repainted. The bunny with the carrot and can, as well as the font were changed considerably. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

Westway Motel
Lakewood, CO
Trail's End Motel
Lakewood, CO
Lane's Tavern was built in Lakewood by the mid-1940s. This sign is probably from the 1950s. The bar closed in 1995 and the building was demolished two years later. This sign is now displayed inside Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park. The other half of this sign was sold to a brewery in Colorado Springs but I don't believe it is there. I believe the other half of this sign which spelled out "Lane's Tavern" as well as the signs that ran along the side of the roof were demolished. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

The Lakewood Grill opened around 1950 and this sign is from then. It was originally installed on the roof and may have had small, animated arrows. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

The Westway Motel was built in 1956 and this sign might be from then. For more, see this website. [map]

The Trail's End Motel sign was probably built in the 1950s. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

The Lakewood Lodge sign is probably from the 1950s. This photo is from 2012. The sign was repainted in 2014. However, by 2023, it looks about the same as this photo. The neon and bulbs are gone. For more, see this website. [map]

The Estes Motel office building from 1948 was moved to the Heritage Lakewood museum in 2010. The motel was previously located on Colfax in Lakewood. The sign was built around 2016. It is a recreation of the one that was at the motel in the 1950s. It features a "No" box that was opened when there were no vacancies. There are very few signs on display that still have these.

A Bar D Motel
Lakewood, CO
2012: 2023:
The A Bar D Motel is now known as the A & D Motel. The motel was built in 1953 and this sign is probably from then. It was repainted around 2022. For more, see this website. [map]

Rocky Mountain Motel

2004: 2012:
The Rocky Mountain Motel sign was probably built in the 1950s. Unfortunately, the neon was removed and the sign was repainted sometime after 2010. For more, see this website. [map]

Golden Burro Cafe and Lounge
Leadville, CO
The Golden Burro Cafe and Lounge opened in 1938. In the 1940s, the bar was moved down the block. This sign may be from the 1940s or 1950s. The burro has a two-phase wagging tail. For more, see this website. [map]

Masonic Lodge
Leadville, CO
Pastime Club
Leadville, CO
Manhattan Bar
Leadville, CO
Evergreen Motel
Littleton, CO
This Masonic Lodge was built in 1910. The glass globes on this sign appear to be in perfect shape and might indicate they are modern replacements. [map]

The Pastime Club opened as the Pastime Saloon in 1878. This sign appears to be from the 1940s. The bottom "Club" panel may have been added in the 1950s. [map]

The Manhattan Bar opened in 1943 and this sign appears to be from then. The building previously housed the Manhattan Cafe. [map]

The Evergreen Motel sign is probably from the 1950s. [map]

Longmont
Lamplighter Motel
Longmont, CO
Bar-L Motel
Longmont, CO
The Longmont Lamplighter Motel sign is probably from the 1960s. There was originally a man lighting a lamp on top of the sign. Apparently, this motel was related to other Lamplighter Motels in West Yellowstone, MT, Scottsbluff, NE, Twin Falls, ID, and Vernal, UT. There were probably others. For more, see this website. [map]

The Bar-L Motel was originally known as the Bar-C Motel. It had opened by 1953 and had a big arrow-shaped sign panel originally. This sign was added when it was still the Bar-C. It was probably built in the 1950s. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

Quality Liquor Store
Longmont, CO
The Quality Liquor Store signs are probably from the 1950s or 1960s. [map]

Empire Lounge
Louisville, CO
The Corner
Louisville, CO
The Empire Lounge sign was built for Colacci's restaurant in 1955. Colacci's closed in 1993. In 2000, the sign was adapted for Pasquini's restaurant. It was adapted again in 2008 for the Empire Lounge. That closed in 2023 but the sign remains. For more, see this website. [map]

The Corner sign was also from a former restaurant. The Blue Parrot opened in 1920 and this sign was built in 1955. It was also originally owned and operated by the Colacci family. When it closed in 2017, the developer wanted to remove the sign. The city wanted the sign to stay but allowed it to be adapted for The Corner which houses the Louisville Underground, a live entertainment and event space. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.
