The Granville M. Sawyer Auditorium, top left, may have been built before 1951. Texas Southern University was known as the Texas State University for Negroes from 1947-1951. The other buildings shown above were designed by John S. Chase. The Humanities Center, middle row, was built in 1969. The Ernest S. Sterling Student Center, top right, was built in 1976.
