The Old Trapper's Lodge statues were created by John Ehn. They were originally installed at Ehn's motel, the Old Trapper's Lodge, near the Burbank Airport. Ehn died in 1981 and the motel was demolished in the late 1980s. The statues were saved and moved to Pierce College. The statues depict Native Americans, pioneers, miners, and saloon girls. In 2022, the college announced that they were getting rid of the statues because of their derogatory depictions. There were plans to donate them to the Valley Relics Museum in Van Nuys. However, that fell through. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. |

[map] This Miner statue in Yuba City is located on the mini golf course at the Mallard Lake Golf Center. It appears to be made from spray foam. The statue was built in 1981 by someone from Marysville, CA. In 2017, it was announced that the property had been sold. In 2021, the mini golf was gone but the statue was still there. [map] |

Desert Christ Park features more than 40 statues depicting scenes from Christ's life. The statues were created by Frank Antone Martin from steel-reinforced concrete. The park was dedicated in 1951. I believe the Rock Chapel was built in 1954. It was designed by Frank Garske and built by him and Ed Garver. Many of the statues were damaged by an earthquake in 1992.
