Old Trapper's Lodge statues
Woodland Hills, CA
The Old Trapper's Lodge statues were created by John Ehn. They were originally installed at Ehn's motel, the Old Trapper's Lodge, near the Burbank Airport. Ehn died in 1981 and the motel was demolished in the late 1980s. The statues were saved and moved to Pierce College. The statues depict Native Americans, pioneers, miners, and saloon girls. In 2022, the college announced that they were getting rid of the statues because of their derogatory depictions. There were plans to donate them to the Valley Relics Museum in Van Nuys. However, that fell through. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3.
