Gaiser's European Style Provisions

West Milford Florist
West Milford, NJ
Union Window Shade & Awning Company opened here in 1940. [map]

Gaiser's European Style Provisions opened around 1953. This sign is most likely from then. The panel sign below originally read "Gaiser's Pork Store, Home Made Bologna". Around the 1990s, the neon was removed, the text panels were painted over, and backlit plastic letters were installed diagonally across the faces reading simply "GAISER'S." The neon pig on top of the sign remains although it is no longer lit. The pig panels are about five feet wide. [map]

West Milford Florist opened in 1950. Their sign looks recently repainted. In the 1990s, the petals were white, the hat was black and the pole was green. The face had no curls or dimples and the brim of the hat read "say it with flowers". [map]

Urie's Waterfront Restaurant
Wildwood, NJ
The Harbor Inn bar sign is probably from the 1950s. The motel was demolished in 2021. The sign was saved by the Doo-Wop Experience Museum. For more, see this website.

The Ice Cream Man sign was originally located at Schumann's Restaurant which is gone now. The sign was removed around 2003 and has gone through several owners since then. During this time, the neon was restored. The sign is now in a private collection. It was visible through the window of a former Woolworth but I don't see it now. [map]

The Cork 'N' Bottle sign was probably built in the 1950s. In 2010, it was damaged in a snowstorm and removed.

The Urie's Waterfront Restaurant opened in 1956 as Urie's Fish Fry. Around 1998, the restaurant was sold and renamed. I believe these signs are from that time. [map]

Laura's Fudge
Wildwood, NJ
Laura's Fudge was established in 1926. The three main signs over the entrance were built in 1950. There was evidently a location on the Boardwalk as well. For more, see this website. [map]
