Lezza Spumoni & Desserts
Bellwood, IL
Fraternal Order of Eagles
Belvidere, IL
Lezza Spumoni & Desserts was established in 1905 at the Ferrara Lezza & Co. pastry shop in Chicago. Around 1965, the business moved to Bellwood to expand production and distribution. These signs are probably from then. In 2015, the retail store was moved to Elmhurst, IL. [map]

This Fraternal Order of Eagles sign is probably from the 1950s. [map]

Wolf Chevrolet [gone]
Belvidere, IL
Wolf Chevrolet was established in 1924. This sign was installed in the early 1960s. The wolf was 10 feet tall while the bowtie sign was 28 feet wide. In 2010, Wolf Chevrolet became Wolf Automotive when Chevrolet dropped hundreds of dealerships. At that point, the Chevrolet portion of the sign was covered with a non-neon panel reading "Automotive". When these photos were taken in 2012, there were still a couple of Chevrolet OK Used Car plastic signs on the lot. In 2013, the dealership closed. In 2015, the neon sign was removed and sold at auction as three separate panels.

Korbakes Food & Liquors was established as a produce and candy store in 1915. Later, the business moved and began selling groceries. The store added liquor in 1952 and this sign might be from then. In 2004, the store was rebuilt and the sign was moved from the front of the building to a pole. In 2024, the store closed but reopened in 2025 with new owners I believe the sign's neon was replaced with LED tubing. For more, see this website. [map]

Miska's Liquor Store was part of a Chicago area chain. I don't know of any other locations with a sign like this. By 2012, the store had been renamed United Liquors. The middle panel of this sign was changed to reflect the new name. By 2025, the panel had been changed again for Bevda's. The top panel with the bottles is identical to the one at the Cardinal Liquor Barn in Oak Lawn, IL. For more, see this website. [map]
