former Howard Johnson's
Cuyahoga Falls, OH
This Howard Johnson's was built around 1953. It has housed an Arby's restaurant since at least 2004. These photos are from 2011. The roof was painted red around 2015. For more, see this website. [map]

former Hojo Junction
Findlay, OH
This former Hojo Junction was one of Howard Johnson's fast food restaurants from the mid-1960s. Only three of these were built, all of them in Ohio. The buildings were meant to resemble the Howard Johnson's hotel's gate lodge lobbies. The concept was abandoned in the late 1970s. This building was expanded and now houses the Pilgrim Family Restaurant. For more, see this website. [map]

former Howard Johnson's
Niles, OH
This Howard Johnson's was built in 1960 and remained in operation until around 1977. The motel is now used by Days Inn. The former restaurant (not shown) was demolished around 2017. For more, see this website. [map]

former Howard Johnson's
Springfield, OH
As of 2009, this Howard Johnson's restaurant appeared to be vacant and the motel rooms in back were boarded up. The adapted sign would have looked like this one originally. By 2015, the building was housing Ohio Auto Loan. The vintage sign was gone. The roof is now painted red and the building is vacant. [map]

former Howard Johnson's [gone]
Harrisburg, PA
This former Howard Johnson's was built in the 1940s. It was the last Colonial style location left with an orange roof. The building last housed the Jade Chinese Buffet. However, it was vacant in 2010 when these photos were taken. The building was still vacant in 2014. It was demolished in 2018. For more, see this website.

former Howard Johnson's
Harrisburg, PA
This Howard Johnson's opened in 1965. The gate lodge has been updated. The steeple and weathervane disappeared around 2009. The motel room row still retains the original balconies and square detailing on the walls. The restaurant building next door now houses a Lancaster Brewing Company location. For more, see this website. [map]

Queen City Family Restaurant
Reading, PA
The Queen City Family Restaurant sure looks like a former Howard Johnson's restaurant. Despite the orange roof and weathervane, according to a couple of different sources, this was originally Moore's Restaurant. There was even a neon sign that strongly resembled the one used by Howard Johnson's. Moore's later became a Dempsey's. The building has housed the Queen City Family Restaurant since the mid-1980s. It closed in 2021 and was going to be renovated as a medical marijuana dispensary. However, I believe the building is still vacant. [map]
