Dog [gone]
Aloha, OR
Bobbie the Wonderdog
Silverton, OR
The Dog in Aloha was about six feet tall and stood across the street from the BarkZone dog daycare. The business opened in 2003. The statue was there by 2007 and was there until at least 2013. It looked like a Standard Schnauzer to me. This photo is from 2008. By 2015, the statue was gone.

Bobbie the Wonderdog was a Collie mix from the 1920s who became famous for traveling more than 2,500 miles after being lost in Indiana to return to his home in Silverton. Since at least 2007, this statue and doghouse have been located downtown in his memory. For more, see this website. [map]

Seaman
Portland, OR
Seaman
Washburn, ND
Seaman was the Newfoundland dog of Captain Meriwether Lewis. The dog accompanied Lewis & Clark on their expedition. This life-sized, bronze statue in Portland was installed at the Pamplin Sports Center at Lewis and Clark College in 2010. The sculpture was created by Georgia Gerber. The dog is the college's mascot. It is nicknamed "Pio," short for Pioneer. The college's sports teams are named the Pioneers. However, in 2024, the college began looking for a new mascot. This statue will remain. For more, see this website.

The Seaman sculpture in Washburn was installed in 2006 at the Seaman Overlook near the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center. The steel sculpture is six feet tall and was created by Tom Neary. [map]

Esso Watchdog
Pottstown, PA
Esso Watchdog statues were produced by the Esso Oil Company. This German Shepherd was used as the company's home heating oil business mascot from around 1959-1965. These fiberglass statues came in two sizes: seven feet long and three feet long. The larger ones, like this one, were installed on top of the company's oil trucks. This Pottstown statue was located at an Esso Oil delivery company at this site. When Watchdog Condo-Storage opened here, they kept the statue. It is now installed on top of their sign. [map]

Dachshund
Dillon, SC
Dachshund
Ruidoso, NM
The Dachshund in Dillon is located at South of the Border. The 15-foot-long statue is installed next to Pedro's Hot Dogs. It was produced by International Fiberglass in the 1960s for the Hot Dog Hound which may have been a chain that is either gone or was never actually built. This photo shows a statue ready for shipment at the factory. Note that the dog's feet were angled to fit at the top of an a-frame roof. This statue at South of the Border must have been altered to stand on the ground. [photo thanks Terry Nelson]. [map]

The Dachshund in Ruidoso is identical to the one in Dillon but with the original feet. It must have been produced by International Fiberglass unless someone made a copy. I don't know where it was installed originally but it has been on the roof of the Ruidoso Emporium since at least 2015. [map]

The Barking Lot Dog looks like a Golden Retriever. It was installed next to this dog park in 2013. It replaced the deteriorating dog statue named Scout that was installed in 2011 when the dog park opened. This six-foot-tall concrete statue was originally painted pink. It was created by Chris Little and is named Riley. For more, see this website. [map]

German Shepherd & Dalmatian
Southlake, TX
This bronze Bloodhound sculpture is located at St. Joseph Academy where the sports teams are known as the Fighting Bloodhounds. I don't know the artist or when it was installed.

This German Shepherd & Dalmatian stand in front of Southlake's police and fire station. The larger-than-life bronze dogs were created by Archie St. Clair and installed in 2010. The sculpture in entitled: "Loyalty and Service Above All Else". [map]

Collie
College Station, TX
dog statue
Brady, TX
This Collie was installed in 2019 at Aggieland Outfitters, a Texas A&M merchandise store. The statue represents Reveille, a Collie, which has been the university's mascot since 1931. For more, see this website. [map]

This bronze dog statue is located in front of Evridge's Furniture which was established in 1937 as a five and dime store. The store moved across the city square to this location in 1939. I don't know the history of this dog statue but appears to be pretty old. It has reflective eyes. One of the reflectors was missing when these photos were taken in 2017. [map]

Labrador Retriever [gone]

This Labrador Retriever in Burlington has been owned by the Country Store since around 2013. It was originally located at the Aslin-Finch Feed Store in Spokane, WA which the Country Store bought. The statue is nicknamed Aslin. It is moved around to the company's 13 stores for their Pet-A-Palooza sales events from Spring until Fall. [map]

The Labrador Retriever in Spokane was installed at this Country Store when these photos were taken in 2016. By 2017, he seemed to be gone. It might be moved around to other stores.

Dog
Phoenix, AZ
This Dog is clearly made from the same fiberglass mold as the Labrador Retriever statues shown above. However, he is painted to look more like a Pointer. The statue has stood in front of the Doggie District Pet Resort since at least 2016. [map]

Labrador Retriever and Bulldog
Billings, OK
Labrador Retriever and Bulldog
Yukon, OK
These Labrador Retriever and Bulldog statues in Billings were installed around 2017 at the Cimarron Travel Plaza which features a Phillips 66 gas station, truck stop, and dog park. I believe these statues and the Labrador Retrievers shown above were produced by FAST Fiberglass. [map]

The same pair of statues was installed at the Phillips 66 in Yukon around 2016. [map]
