The Los Altos Medical Center was designed by Gordon Powers of Powers, Daly & DeRosa. It may have been built in 1950. It was definitely there by 1966. [map]

Hanna-Barbera Building

The Hanna-Barbera Building was designed by Arthur Froelich and built in 1962. The "cartoon factory" was nearly demolished in 2004. The building housed an LA Fitness location in 2008. The building now houses Added Value, a marketing company. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map]

Ruby Beauty Academy
Valley Village, CA
The Ruby Beauty Academy moved into this office building sometime after 2011. This photo is from 2013. The building was built in 1960. I don't know what business was here originally. The relief panel over the entrance appears to depict Mayan figures. [map]

8899 Beverly Building
West Hollywood, CA
The 8899 Beverly Building was designed by Richard Dorman and built in 1962. It is often referred to as the ICM building since the International Creative Management talent agency had offices there. The building is now known as the Los Angeles International Design Center. There are plans to possibly convert the building into lofts. For more, see this website. [map]

The American Cement Building was built in 1964. The exterior features extensive use of cast concrete. In 2002, the building was converted into residential and office lofts. For more, see this website. [map]

The Loma Starr Building was designed by William Krisel and built in 1960. The building is now known as Peninsula Center. [map]

This law office building is made from fiberglass. It previously housed the Chiropractic & Wellness Center and was painted light blue. I believe it is from the 1960s or 1970s. [map]

The Nautilus Environmental building was built in 1968. I don't know what the original occupant was. [map]

The Pacific Life Insurance Company Building was built in 1972 when the company was known as Pacific Mutual Life. It was designed by William L. Pereira & Associates. [map]

San Jose Water Co.
San Jose, CA
The San Jose Water Co. building was designed by Gifford E. Sobey and built in 1960. Originally, there was a moat with fountains in front of the building. The grass has been replaced with mulch. There was also a sign with a cinder block screen which was removed around 2010. There is also a chain link fence around the building which I believe is vacant. For more, see this website. [map]

CHEIM Lumber Co. [gone]
San Jose, CA
This CHEIM Lumber Co. building was used as a sales office CHEIM's prefabricated houses. The building was designed by Bill May of Kress & Gibson and built around 1954. The building housed Elite Roofing Supply when these photos were taken in 2014. In 2015, the building was demolished. For more, see this website.

Water Street Medical Plaza
Santa Cruz, CA
The Water Street Medical Plaza was designed by Aaron Green. It was completed in 1964. A pharmacy building is at the center of the complex (bottom row above). Green was an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright and collaborated with him on more than 30 West Coast projects. For more, see this website. [map]

McGraw-Hill Distribution Center

The McGraw-Hill Distribution Center was designed by John Savage Bolles & Associates. It was built from 1962-1963. McGraw-Hill left in 1991. The building housed Birkenstock from 1992-2007. It remained vacant until 2012 when Birkenstock moved back in. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map]
