Tom's Diner [gone]

Tom's Diner is a Silk City from 1937. It was originally the "Silver Dollar Diner". In 1958, it was moved across the street and became Tom's Diner. In the 1980s, this diner was featured in the Cyndi Lauper music video "Time After Time". This diner closed in 2005 and there were plans to reopen it in 2007. In 2016, there was an effort to restore the diner. However, as of 2018, it was still vacant and crumbling. It was demolished in 2021.

The White Rose System diners in Linden and Roselle were part of a 1950s chain. They were produced by Kullman. There is another remaining White Rose location in Highland Park, NJ. [Linden map]; [Roselle map]

The White Diamond diners in Linden and Clark were part of a chain in competition with the White Rose System diners. The White Diamond in Linden was known as the Blue Tower at one time. These photos are from 2007. The White Diamond in Linden closed in 2009. It now houses a 30 Burgers location. [Linden map]; [Clark map]

There was another former White Diamond diner in Westfield, NJ. This Paramount diner was built around 1947. It housed the J&J White Diamond Diner. Later, it housed Samantha's Restaurant and Norris Chevrolet. It had been gutted and vacant for many years before being demolished in 2013. For more, see this website.
