Arrow Bar [gone]
Sioux Falls, SD
DeLux Motel
Sioux Falls, SD
Bob's Cafe [gone]
Sioux Falls, SD
The Arrow Bar opened in 1939 and closed in 2006. This sign may have been from the 1950s. However, it looked so clean that I suspect it was either a replica or entirely new, built in the style of 1950s signs. This photo is from 2006. By 2012, the sign was gone.

The DeLux Motel was known as the De Lux Auto Court in the 1940s or 1950s. This sign is probably from the 1950s. In 2015, the sign was put up for sale on eBay. However, it was still there in 2022. The bottom panels were removed around 2018. [map]

Bob's Cafe opened in 1951 as Ray's Drive Inn. I don't know if whether this sign was built for Ray's or Bob's. The woman depicted on the sign was the supposedly either Ray or Bob's wife. In 2017, the business was sold and was to become Cluckin' Good Chicken and BBQ. However, in 2018, the building was still vacant and the sign was still there. In 2019, the sign was removed and put up for sale. For more, see this website.

Jim & Ron's Auto Service
Sioux Falls, SD
Jim & Ron's Auto Service was established in 1963. This sign may be more modern than that. The shop moved around 2012 and reinstalled the sign at the new location. [map]

Crow Bar & Casino Lounge
Sioux Falls, SD
The Crow Bar & Casino Lounge sign on the left was built in 1954. [map]

Sunset Strip Pawn
Sioux Falls, SD
Nites Inn
Sioux Falls, SD
The Sunset Strip Pawn sign was built in 1960 for Sunset Strip Liquors. The pawn shop changed the text on the black part of the sign when they opened here in 1986. [map]

The Nites Inn sign was built around 1976 for Smith's Motel. The sign was adapted by Nites Inn around 1990. This photo is from 2011. By 2016, the neon letters had been replaced with backlit plastic letters. For more, see this website. [map]

Nyberg's Ace Hardware
Sioux Falls, SD
Crown Casino
Sioux Falls, SD
Nyberg's Ace Hardware was established in 1958. There are now four locations in town. This one opened in 1967 and this single-sided sign is probably from then. The backlit plastic letters were originally neon. For more, see this website. [map]

I don't know how old the Crown Casino sign is. This photo is from 2012. By 2017, the neon had been replaced with backlit plastic. [map]

Ideal Yardware
Sioux Falls, SD
Robson Hardware
Sioux Falls, SD
Gaslight Saloon
Sioux Falls, SD
Ideal Yardware opened in 1946. The store moved here around 2007. This sign appears to have been built at that time as a simulation of the previous sign. That sign was probably from the 1950s. The neon alternated at night between "Yardware" and "Hardware" with a flashing "Y" and "H". For more, see this website. [map]

The Robson Hardware sign is probably from the 1950s or 1960s. [map]

This Gaslight Saloon sign might be from the 1960s or later. For more, see this website. [map]

American Legion [gone]
Sioux Falls, SD
El Riad Shrine Temple
Sioux Falls, SD
This American Legion sign was probably from the 1950s. It was removed around 2020.

The El Riad Shrine Temple building appears to be fairly modern or recently remodeled. These neon signs might be modern. [map]

Sioux Empire Fair
Sioux Falls, SD
The Sioux Empire Fair began operating in 1940. This sign appears to be from the 1950s or 1960s. [map]
