The Club 449'er was located at 449 Railroad St. The bar is long gone but this part of the sign remains. At some point between 2014 and 2018, the neon was removed and the sign was painted yellow. It was adapted for the Cabo Bar. By 2021, the sign was painted black for the Punch Bowl. For more, see this website. [map]

This Texaco sign is located at the Cimarron West RV Park. The gas station that was here has been demolished but the sign remains. It is probably from the late 1960s or 1970s. [map]

The Centre Motel was previously known as the Knapp Hotel. The name was changed by the early 1950s and these signs were adapted then. The motel is set back from the road, hence, the "That-A-Way" and pointing cowboy. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

The Traveler's Motel sign was painted red originally. It replaced an earlier neon pole sign. This one is probably from the late 1950s or early 1960s. By 2018, the sign was painted red again. For more, see this website. [map]

The I.H. Kent Company was established in 1892 as a mercantile operation. The company is still operating as the Kent Supply Company. This sign looks like it might be from the 1920s. [map]

The E. H. Hursh Insurance Agency was established in 1919. This sign appears to be from the 1950s or 1960s. [map]

The Lariat Motel was built in 1953 and this sign is from then. The cowboy's arm and lariat are lit in three-part animation. The neon lariat moves backward, forward and then encircles the text part of the sign. The motel was demolished in 2005. At that point, the sign was donated to the Churchill Arts Council. In 2013, the sign was restored by YESCO in Reno, NV. It is now located at the Oats Park Art Center in Fallon. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, and 4.

This Ford sign is installed inside Fallon Ford-Toyota. The company started out downtown in 1956 as the Anderson Ford-Mercury dealership. I believe the sign was located there as a pole sign. The business moved to this location in 1976.

Outpost Motel

The Hawthorne sign was built in 1950 for the Hawthorne Club. The sign was known as the "Pillar of Light." The club closed in 1973. In 1996, the building was demolished and the sign was moved to its current location at the city's entrance. The sign was blown over in a windstorm in 2017. It was restored and reinstalled in 2018. The Gold Strike Hotel & Gambling Hall opened in 1987. I believe these signs are from then. In 2018, the signs were adapted for Terrible's Hotel & Casino. The text bulbs on the entrance sign were replaced with neon. [map]

The Sunset Motel may have opened in 1928. The sign is probably from the 1940s or 1950s. The panel on top must have had nicer paint originally. The bottom panel has a tin border. Both panels had neon originally. [map]

Sportsman's Club

2006: 2014:
The Sportsman's Club opened in 1955. This sign was installed then. It is about eight feet wide. The trout was never animated but it has been lit continuously since it was built. The fish is lit with green neon while the text is yellow. The painted sign on the front of the building was replaced with rocks sometime after 2011. [map]
