Miner and Burro [gone]
Albany, OR

2008:

2015:
2016:
This Miner and Burro were known as the Loan Arranger and Silverado. They were originally located at a dealership in Lebanon, OR originally. The miner was known as Plaza Pete when he was there. By the mid-1990s, the statues had been moved to South Pacific Auto in Albany. The Miner had been repainted by 2015 and had a smaller badge. By 2016, he had no badge at all. The dealership closed in 2025. In 2026, the statues were put up for sale and removed. I don't know where they went. These sprayfoam statues were created in the 1980s by Steven Fletcher. He also created the Giant Opossums and Eagle in Albany, OR. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3.

Lumberjack
Crescent, OR
Prospector [gone]
Grants Pass, OR
Atlas [gone]
Albany, OR
This Lumberjack statue is mounted on top of the sign for the Woodsman Country Lodge. Although the lodge has been here a long time, this sign appears to be new. The statue has faces on both sides of his head. [map]

This wood carving seems to represent a Prospector. This unidentified statue is located in a parking lot. It appears that he held a pan which has broken off. This photo is from 2015. The statue was gone by 2017. For more, see this website.

This Atlas statue was installed on the roof of Orezona Building & Roofing Co. sometime between 2012 and 2015. This photo is from 2016. This statue was missing his globe. By 2025, this statue was gone. These statues were mass-produced and originally installed at Jack LaLanne Fitness Centers. There are still about a dozen of these statues on display around the country including these in California.

Caveman
Grants Pass, OR

2008:

2015:
The 18-foot-tall fiberglass Caveman was installed here in 1971. The first caveman statue installed in town in 1956 was destroyed. The current statue was produced with a mold made by International Fiberglass from a sculpture created by Richard Ellis. Grants Pass has been known as the Home of the Caveman since 1922, a reference to the nearby Oregon Caves National Monument. This statue was set on fire by vandals in 2004 and was restored in 2005. The statue was restored again in 2014. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

An identical Caveman statue was built around 1969 by International Fiberglass for Time Town in Bolton Landing, NY. In 1981, that statue was moved to Magic Forest in Lake George, NY. In 2021, that statue was sold to the Caveman Club in Grants Pass. The statue will be installed somewhere in town.
