former General Tire
Miami, FL
This Miami General Tire store was designed by Robert Law Weed and built in 1956. The store also sold Standard Oil gas. The building now houses "Andiamo Pizza" and "Leo's Touch", a car wash. [map] [vintage photo thanks Wayne Henderson]

This advertisement shows another General Tire location in Miami Beach.

Bowman Tire
Rapid City, SD
Bowman Tire was established in 1969. [map]

Good Guys Tire & Auto Repair
Visalia, CA
Good Guys Tire & Auto Repair opened sometime after 1976. This looks like it was another tire dealership or possibly a car dealership originally. [map]

Davis Brothers Tires
Culver City, CA
Davis Brothers Tires opened in 1937. [map]

Pope Tire Co.
Fresno, CA
The Pope Tire Co. was established in 1919. The company moved to this location in 1941. The neon sign was moved here from the original location. Pope Tire closed in 1998. I believe this building has been vacant since then. [map]

Town Tire
Los Angeles, CA

2008:

2012:
Town Tire, a tire store and repair garage, closed around 2006. The business had been there since at least the 1960s. The building was originally a market in the 1930s. It now houses Rolling Greens, a nursery and home decor store. The painted tire has been preserved. For more, see this website. [map]

O.K. Tires sold franchises to pre-existing tire stores and these signs were installed at that point. The company was established in the 1930s and there were more than 1,000 franchisees in the U.S. and Canada. The company began to fall apart in 1962 when many locations switched to what is now known as Big O Tires. By 1977, the company had folded and the only official O.K. Tire stores left are in Canada. However, there are still some surviving signs as shown below.

O.K. Tire Store [gone]
Aberdeen, SD
This O.K. Tire Store was part of a nationwide chain. This sign's O.K. letters probably had neon originally. These photos are from 2008. By 2012, the building had been repainted and the signs removed. The building now houses Rod's Deals on Wheels, a used car dealer.

Kaufman's O.K. Tires
Driggs, ID
This O.K. Tire Store has been here since at least the 1940s. This sign is probably from the 1950s or 1960s. [map]

O.K. Tires
Twin Falls, ID
This building and signs at this O.K. Tire Store appear to be from the 1960s. There is also another location in town with backlit plastic signs. [map]

Jim's O.K. Tire Store
Wellington, TX
Jim's O.K. Tire Store has been here since at least the early 1950s. This sign must have had neon originally. [map]

O.K. Tire Store
Salem, OR

2008:

2015:
This O.K. Tire Store has been here since 1939. The sign is probably from the 1940s or 1950s. The sign was repainted around 2014 and the neon tubing removed. For more, see this website. [map]

O.K. Tire Store
Sweet Home, OR
O.K. Tire Store
Fargo, ND
This O.K. Tire Store sign in Sweet Home has been adapted for the O.K. Country Feed & Supply store. I don't know if there was an O.K. Tire store here previously or if the sign was brought here from somewhere else. [map]

This O.K. Tire Store in Fargo features a modern, plastic version of the neon signs shown above. [map]

O.K. Tire Store
Pelican Rapids, MN
Kelly's O.K. Tire Store [gone]
Hawaiian Gardens, CA
This O.K. Tire Store in Pelican Rapids features what appears to be a more recent version of the company's logo. [map]

The Kelly's O.K. Tire Store sign is probably from the 1960s or 1970s. This photo is from 2013. The shop's building was remodeled in 2014 and the sign is gone now.
