The Wilson-Bearden Pharmacy opened in 1945. The neon arrow sign might be from the 1950s. It was restored around 2014. [map]

Lisenby Jewelry opened in 1961. Before that, the store housed Shryock's Jewelers. I assume that this sign was adapted. It appears to be from the 1940s or 1950s. [map]

The Family Shoe Store sign featured a Poll-Parrot Shoes design. This store opened around 1957. This sign is probably from then. This photo is from 2010. The store closed in 2011. By 2013, the sign was gone. Poll-Parrot produced children's shoes. There are only a few of this company's signs left including these in Las Vegas, NV, Atlanta, GA, and Barnsdall, OK.

The Marie's Package Store, a liquor store, sign appeared to be from the 1950s or 1960s. This photo is from 2010. By 2015, the building and sign were gone.

This star sign is installed on the building which now houses the House of Prayer. I don't know what business here when the sign was installed. It is probably from the 1960s. [map]

The Henry Marx Company, a men's clothing store, opened in a different location in 1895. The company moved to this building in 1914. The sign might be from the 1940s or 1950s. The store closed in 1996 but this sign remains. [map]

Cohen's Fashion Shop was a women's clothing store. This sign is probably from the 1950s. [map]

The C&R Liquor Company sign might be from the 1950s. The store was boarded up when this photo was taken in 2019. [map]

Burt's Store for Men was a men's clothing store. I don't know when it opened or closed. However, the store was closed for many years before reopening as Burt's Food Court and Event Center in 2018. The letters were repainted from yellow to blue and LED strip lighting was installed on them. [map]

The Lou's Fresh & Smoked Meats sign may have had neon at one time. This photo is from 2008. By 2009, the sign was gone.

This Daisy BB Guns sign was built in 1960. The BB bulbs and the target rings inside the letter "D" are animated. The sign was restored in 2007. [map]

This Mr. Burger had closed by 2007. The sign was adapted for Tobacco Town. This sign would have looked like this one in Dimmit, TX originally. [map]

This Crafton's Furniture & Appliances sign is probably from the 1960s. There is a sign in Clinton, AR with the same design that is missing its text panels. [map]

This Frigidaire sign is probably from the 1960s. It hangs above the Antique Mall. I don't know if there was an appliance store here previously or if the sign was put up by the antiques store. [map]

Tyson's Feed & Hatchery

The original Tyson's Feed & Hatchery headquarters building was restored in 2017. These signs are recreations of what was there by 1957. The original signs might have been built in the 1940s. [map]

cars and signs collection [gone]

This building had been housing this cars and signs collection since just before these photos were taken in 2019. It's not clear if this was just a private collection or if this was a classic car sales business. I took these photos through the windows since there was no one there to talk to. Everything is gone now and there's a new business in the building.

By 2009, the Hotel Riceland sign had deteriorated badly with rust. In 2009, this replica sign had been built by Arkansas Sign and Neon Company and installed. The original sign might have been from the 1940s or 1950s. For more, see this website. [map]

The Hartsell's Liquor opened in 1956 and this pole sign is probably from then. The bulb arrow flashes sequentially. [map]

Bottle Shop

2011: 2018:
The Bottle Shop opened in 1947. This sign is probably from the 1950s or 1960s. It was restored in 2008. By 2018, the paint on the bottle had faded while some neon and bulbs were broken. In 2018, I was told there was a new owner that might be changing the name of the store and this sign might be removed. [map]

The Buhrman-Pharr Hardware Company was founded in 1908. The sign appears to be from the 1940s or 1950s. When this store closed, the building was converted into residential lofts. The sign remains. For more, see this website. [map]

This Kaiser-Frazer car dealership sign hangs above the Tex-Ark Antique Auto Museum. It came from a former business in town. For more, see this website. [map]

BJ's Liquor features a great old sign with a style more typical of supermarkets. [map]

Twilight Motel
Texarkana, AR
The Twilight Motel pole sign is probably from the 1950s. The support itself has been modified. The steel panels around the pole were removed around 2015. The rooftop sign (second photo above) is probably from the 1950s or 1960s. In 2020, the pole sign was found lying on the ground. It's not known whether it was hit by a car or had a rusted-out pole. In 2022, it was still on the ground in 2022. By 2023, it was gone. The rooftop sign remains. For more, see this website. [map]
