Moby Arena
Fort Collins, CO
The Moby Arena basketball and volleyball arena at Colorado State University was designed by Bunts & Kelsey and built from 1964-1966. The building is also used for concerts. It was going to be called the Auditorium-Gymnasium. However, the hump-shaped roof was compared to a beached whale and the building was named the Moby Gymnasium after the whale, Moby Dick. For more, see this website. [map]

Scott Elementary School
Greeley, CO
Scott Elementary School was built in 1968 as Sherwood Elementary School. There are four, windowless round buildings. There was a fifth, open-air building that served as a gym which was later demolished and replaced. Panels inside the "pods" enabled the sizes of the triangular classrooms to be changed. Each of them also had a sunken, carpeted center allowing for "amphitheatre" seating. Those were later filled in and the walls made stationary. Although the remaining buildings are endangered, the cost of replacing them has prevented them from being demolished for now. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map]
