Denver Art Museum North Building

The KMGH-TV Building was built in 1969. The station was known as KLZ-TV at the time. The name was changed in 1972 when McGraw-Hill bought the station. This building has eight sides. [map]

The Denver Art Museum North Building was designed by Gio Ponti and James Sudler Associates. The building was completed in 1971. For more, see this website. [map]

The Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital appeared to be from this 1960s. It was originally known as St. Joseph's Hospital. In 1998, it was renamed the Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital. This photo is from 2012. The building was demolished in 2016. For more, see this website.

The Ilona Building was built in 1964. It now houses Ilona Beauty, StretchLab, the European Wax Center, and office space. [map]

Van Hummell Insurance Building

The Van Hummell Insurance Building was designed by Edwin Allen Francis and built from 1948-1951. The building is faced with red sandstone. It now houses the American Red Cross. [map]

The Brown Palace West was built as an addition to the Brown Palace Hotel in 1959. The building now houses a Holiday Inn Express. For more, see this website. [map]

The First National Bank was designed by Raymond Harry Ervin and built in 1958. At the time, it was the tallest building in Denver. For more, see this website. [map]

U.S. Courthouse

The U.S. Court House was designed by James Sudler Associates and built from 1962-1965. It was built in conjunction with the Byron G. Rogers Federal Building, visible in the background in the first photo above. [map]

Executive Tower Inn

The Executive Tower Inn was built in 1974 as a combination of hotel and office space. Since 2007, the building has housed the Curtis Hotel. [map]

The Manna Pro building appears to be from the 1950s or 1960s. I don't know what business was here originally. [map]

The 164-foot-tall Stapleton Airport Traffic Control Tower was built in 1962. The airport closed in 1995 and most of the buildings were demolished. In 2017, the Control Tower was adapted for Punch Bowl Social. It now houses FlyteCo Tower, a brewery, restaurant, coffee bar, and entertainment venue. [map]

Dire's Lock & Key was established in 1944. This building was built in 1969. Dire's closed in 2022 and the building now houses Big Daddy's Jewelry & Pawn. [map]

Denver Hilton Hotel

The Denver Hilton Hotel was designed by I.M. Pei and built in 1960 as part of the now-gone Zeckendorf Plaza. It featured precast concrete panels. The building is now known as the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

Boettcher Memorial Conservatory

The Boettcher Memorial Conservatory is located at the Denver Botanic Gardens. The Conservatory and the building which serves as the entrance, gift shop and office space was designed in 1964 by Victor Hornbein and Ed White Jr. They are also responsible for the concrete light fixtures. [map]
