Wheaton Regional Park Carousel
Wheaton, MD
The Wheaton Regional Park Carousel is a Herschell/Spillman from 1915. Its original location is unknown. From the 1960s until the early 1980s, it operated on the Mall in Washington, DC. In 1981, it was restored and moved here. One of the rounding boards invites riders to grab a brass ring -- but there is no ring machine now. Although the music is taped (no organ), the horses are in great shape and the restoration was nicely done. There are 33 jumpers, 3 zebras and 2 chariots.
