former Empress Theatre
Owensboro, KY
2010: 2026:
The Empress Theatre opened in 1912 with vaudeville. It was renamed the Malco Theatre in 1937 and the Center Theatre in 1949. It closed in 1989. In 1992, it opened as Goldie's Best Little Opryhouse in Kentucky with live music. It closed in 2008. In 2010, it became the TWO (Theatre Workshop of Owensboro) Empress Theatre. The Lane Theatre opened in 1948 and closed in 1987. It has been vacant since then but there are plans to restore the building as an arts and cultural center. For more, see this website. [map]

Winchester, KY
The Leeds Theatre opened in 1925 and closed in 1986. After local fundraising efforts, the theatre was restored and reopened in 1990 as the Leeds Center for the Arts. For more, see this website. [map]
