Esquire Theatre
Denver, CO

2023:
The Esquire Theatre opened in 1928 as the Hiawatha Theatre. In the 1960s, the balcony was converted into a second theater and the facade was updated. The sign's letters were designed by Richard Crowther. Around 2016, the building was painted beige and brown. In 2024, the theatre closed and plans were announced to turn the building into residential and commercial space. The letters will be saved. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

Ogden Theatre
Denver, CO
The Ogden Theatre opened as a movie theatre in 1917. The marquee was installed in 1970 when the building was remodeled. It replaced a triangulated sign with with neon script letters on top of readerboards. Since 1993, the theatre has been a concert venue. For more, see this website. [map]

Oriental Theatre
Denver, CO
The Oriental Theatre opened in 1927. It now features movies and concerts. After these 2023 photos were taken, the blade sign was restored by Morry's Neon. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map]

Mayan Theatre
Denver, CO
The Mayan Theatre was built in 1930. It is one of three remaining theatres designed in the Art Deco Mayan Revival style. In the mid-1980s, the theatre was saved from demolition. It was restored and converted into a three-screen movie theatre. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map]
