Fox Theatre

The Fox Theatre was built in 1912 as a playhouse. In 1939, it became part of the Fox Theatre chain and began showing movies. It is still in operation. For more, see this website. [map]

The Longmont Performing Arts Center was built as the New Fox Theatre in 1939. In 1960, the theater was renamed the Trojan Theater. The theatre closed in 1986. In 1990, the building was purchased and converted it into a performing arts center. For more, see this website. [map]

The Fox Cinema Center opened in 1929 as the Fox Theatre. The facade has been remodeled but the original onion dome and minaret remain. For more, see this website. [map]

Paradise Theatre

The Paradise Theatre was built in 1928 and is still operating. For more, see this website. [map]

The Rialto Theater was designed by the Boller Brothers and opened in 1918. In 1935, it was remodeled and became the Chief Theatre. In 2003, it was converted into the Damon Runyon Repertory Theater, a performing arts center. By 2015, there were new panels on the blade sign. In 2016, the building began housing the Spirit House Cabaret nightclub and bar. That closed around 2020 and the building is vacant now. For more, see this website. [map]

Ute Theatre

The Ute Theatre was built in 1935 a block away. It was rebuilt in 1948 at its current location after a fire. It was later known as the Rifle Creek Theatre. From 2009-2012, the building was renovated and reopened as the Ute Theater and Events Center. For more, see this website. [map]

The Grand Theatre opened in 1901 as the Grand Opera House. It began showing movies in 1926. It was rebuilt in 1935 after a fire. The theatre closed in 1986. It was saved by the city in 1991 and now features movies and live entertainment. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map]

The Ute Theatre was built in 1947. It opened and closed many times over the years. It is now used for workshops, private events, live entertainment, and films. For more, see this website. [map]

The Chief Theatre opened in 1927. In 1969, it was remodeled as a fourplex and renamed the Village Theatre. In 2013, it became a performing arts center. It closed around 2021 and is still being renovated. [map]

The Fox Theatre opened in 1908 as West's Theatre. It had been in continuous operation since then. The marquee was added over the entrance in 1935. The name was changed to the Fox in 1942. These photos are from 2012. The theatre closed in 2013. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

The Fox Theatre opened in 1917 as the Star Theatre featuring vaudeville and plays. In 1929, movies were introduced and it was renamed the Valencia Theatre. That same year, Fox bought the theatre and it became the Fox-Valencia Theatre. The building was remodeled to its current look in 1941. By 2018, the building and sign had been repainted. Gem Theatre

The Gem Theatre had opened by 1949. It is now used for community events. For more, see this website. [map]

Jones Theatre
Westcliffe, CO
The Jones Theatre building was built in the 1880s as a saloon and pool hall. In the 1920s, movies began showing here and the place was known as the Canda Theatre. The theatre was remodeled in 1941. This sign is probably from then. In 1964, the theatre was sold to the Jones family. This sign was apparently adapted then. The theatre closed in 1980 and was used as a dentist office until 1992.
