Rancho Sierra Motel

The Rancho Sierra Motel sign was probably built in the 1950s. In 2023, the sign was removed during property development. The sign is now at the Light Circus Museum (see below). For more, see this website.

The Flamingo Motel had been here since at least the 1960s. This sign appears to be from then. It was removed in 2022 and is now in Will Durham's collection. It may be displayed at the Light Circus Museum (see below) in the future. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

Society Cleaners [gone]

2008: 2014:
The Society Cleaners signs appeared to be from the 1950s. The business was in the process of moving to a new building in 2008 when these photos were taken. These signs are gone now. However, the "Society" panel which was located along the edge of the roof was saved and then displayed inside the St. James Infirmary bar. It is now at the Light Circus Museum (see below)

Dunseath Key Company

2014: 2023:
The Dunseath Key Company was founded in 1930. This sign is probably from the 1950s or 1960s. The store moved around 2019 and the sign was moved to the new location. The store moved again around 2024. The sign is now displayed at the Light Circus Museum (see below).

Heart O' Town Motel [gone]

Reno, NV
The Heart O' Town Motel opened around 1960 and closed in 2009. These photos are from 2008. The sign is now in Will Durham's collection. Part of the sign is displayed at the Light Circus Museum (see below). For more, see this website.

The Golden West Motor Lodge sign appears to be from the 1950s or 1960s. The motel was closed and fenced off for many years until it was finally demolished. Light Circus Museum
Reno, NV
The Light Circus Museum at the National Bowling Stadium displays part of Will Durham's sign collection which he has accumulated over 30 years. Most of the collection is from Reno and the signs were removed just before being being scrapped. These photos were taken during the "soft opening" for Neon Speaks in September 2026.
