The Thinker

The Thinker statue is installed in front of TD's Tuff Decisions, a costumes and party novelties store. He is often dressed in shorts. [map]

These carved foam Muffler Men statues are installed on the building at Mr. Muffler & Brake Center. The statue on the left is a portrait of one of the men that works there. [map]

Superman [gone]

This Superman statue was installed at CoolEctor's Mall, a comic book and collectibles store when these photos were taken in 2010. The statue was built by Rick Phelps. Around 2012, the store moved to a new location and changed names. The statue was sold to a collector in Ohio. This Batman statue was also there. I don't know where that one went.

Gabe represents Gabe Fiorella who owned the now-demolished Gabe's Tower Inn. This 12.5-foot-tall statue was produced by Elmer Cecil. It is made of concrete over a steel frame. The statue was installed in front of Gabe's Restaurant in 1966. Gabe's jacket was originally painted red. The statue revolved 24 hours per day on top of a six-foot-tall pedestal. There was originally a piece around the base emblazoned with Gabe's greeting: "Hi neighbor! It's a wonderful world!". The restaurant closed in 1985. In 1986, the statue was moved to Owen's Concrete Products. It now stands in front of Burlew Blvd. Mini Storage. [map]

Nicky Hayden Memorial

This Nicky Hayden Memorial sculpture was installed in front of the Owensboro Convention Center in 2018. It was created by George Lundeen. Hayden, also known as "The Kentucky Kid," was a professional motorcycle racer. For more, see this website. [map]

This Mellow Mushroom sculpture in Paducah was built from recycled metal and installed in 2017. The character is named Milo the Thirsty Sprocket. In Paducah, the statue holds a pizza pie and a beer. At the Bowling Green location which opened in 2012, the character holds a slice. The third photo shows the Wizard statue there holding a beer and a pretzel. Lewis and Clark Trail of Discovery Monument
Paducah, KY
This Lewis and Clark Trail of Discovery Monument is also known as "On the Trail of Discovery. The five bronze sculptures were installed in 2006 in front of the National Quilt Museum. They were created by George Lundeen and represent Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, an Indian man and girl, and Clark's dog Seaman. [map]

Abraham Lincoln

This Abraham Lincoln sculpture was built in 2010 and originally installed in Stanville, KY. In 2019, it was moved to its current location at the Middle Creek National Battlefield. [map]
