King's Texaco
Gonzales, TX
Rufus King took over the operations of a Texas Co. canopy station on this property in 1940. This King's Texaco station replaced it in 1951. It still operates as a gas station and repair shop. The "Washing" and "Marfak Lubrication" letters are original. The Walter Dorwin Teague design is from 1936. For more, see this website. [map]

This former Texaco station appeared to have been vacant for a while in 2008. By 2013, the windows and bays were boarded up. Sometime after 2016, the building was restored. It was still vacant in 2018. By 2021, it was housing the Front Porch on Oak Street bar and grill. It now houses the Oak Street Taco House. [map]

This former Texaco station in Wharton looks like it was used as a restaurant at one time. This photo is from 2011. By 2021, the canopy was removed and the building was painted beige. The building might be used as a residence or for storage now. [map]

This former Texaco station in Van Horn housed Raul's Diesel when this photo was taken in 2012. The building has been painted white and gray. It now houses Tire & Tow. [map]

This former Texaco station was supposedly built in the 1920s. However, this style building was not designed until 1936. The building has housed La Bella Tavola restaurant since 2016. The building was vacant in 2013. Before that, it housed a liquor store. The "banjo" pole sign and Texaco stars were not at this location until the restaurant opened. The original building would have featured porcelain enamel steel panels not exposed brick. Those panels were missing by 2008. [map]
