Lewis & Clark Motel
Bozeman, MT
The Lewis & Clark Motel was built in 1976 and this sign was installed then. The sign was designed and built by William J. Sebena, the owner of the motel. He had no sign experience but was assisted by a friend that did. Sebena was inspired by signs in Las Vegas. There are 2,300 incandescent bulbs on each side of the sign. Sebena's daughter now runs the motel and wants to keep the sign as original as possible. She does not plan to update it with LED. The bulbs are broken frequently during hailstorms. The readerboard in the center of the sign revolved originally. The sign's letters are outlined with neon and are lit sequentially. [map]

This Western Life Insurance Company branch was designed by Morrison-Maierle & Associates and built from 1961-1962. In 2023, the building was being renovated for the Blue Duck, a hunting and golfing simulation space. The building is now painted a dark blue. [map]
