|Plantation Inn building
|The Plantation Inn was designed by Morris Lapidus and built in 1958. It was known as either the Chicopee Motor Inn or the Chicopee Hotel. It later became the Schine Inn, the Treadway Inn, and the Quality Inn. In 1993, it was renamed the Plantation Inn. The round building with the folded plate roof shown above was not used for many years. The wood ceiling, light fixtures, and even the carpeting and drapes are all original. It was originally used for conferences, weddings, and banquets. This photo is from 2010. In 2013, the property was sold. Demolition began in 2016. I don't know if this domed building was spared. The giant statue that stood in front of the hotel was moved to Agawam, MA. For more, see this website. [map]|
|North Shore Music Theatre
|The North Shore Music Theatre opened in 1955. The building was designed by Ralph LeBlanc. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]|
