"Classic" Roosters (page 1)

The Giant Roosters shown at these two pages were produced by International Fiberglass in the 1960s. I have nicknamed them the "Classic" Roosters since far more of them were produced than the other types of fiberglass rooster statues. They are eight feet tall and weigh 100 pounds. The statues could be ordered with custom paint jobs. However, the exotic paint schemes on the statues shown below at this page were done later. These statues have been copied by other companies. The Rooster in Duanesburg acted as signage for Jewett's Poultry Farm (egg producers). This photo is from 2004. The statue was damaged by vandals in 2006 and removed. The owners plan to restore it. However, as of 2015, the statue was still missing.

The Rooster in Painter stands on top of Colonna Industries sign. The company is a welding contractors business. [map]

The Rooster in Chestertown is located in front of the Silver Star Diner. The restaurant is also nicknamed "The Chicken Diner" after this statue. The photos on the left are from 2007. In 2010, vandals dragged the statue into the road and it was destroyed. A few months later, the restaurant replaced the statue with a new one (photo on right). The Rooster in Providence stood in front of Sollitto's Liquors. The statue was painted with the message "USA Love It or Leave It" when the first photo above was taken. By 2008, the statue had been repainted. In 2013, Sollitto's closed and the statue was removed. It was restored and now stands in front of Antonelli Poultry. [third photo thanks Bob Connell] [map]

This Rooster in Fairfield is located at Larry's Produce. The statue is now installed behind the store.

The Rooster in Harrisville is located in the back of the parking lot of Wright's Farm Restaurant.

The Rooster in Everson is located at Evernook Dentistry. There were previously restaurants located here (Dunny's Drive In and Mexico Tipico). [map]

The Rooster in Longview is installed on the roof of a Shell gas station convenience store. [map]

The Rooster in Grand Island stood in front of the Sundance Feed & Seed in 2006 when this photo was taken. By 2008, the business and the rooster were gone.

The Rooster in Lincoln is installed on a pole at Oz & Jan's Famous Lee's Restaurant. The restaurant has been here since 1945. The Rooster is known as Pioneer Pete. [map]

The Rooster in Hayti was located on the roof of Patty Ann's Hickory Pit BBQ restaurant. This photo is from 2010. Sometime after 2012, the statue disappeared.

The Rooster in Mayfield was previously installed at Emma's Restaurant which is now gone. The statue has been moved to Larry Angel Motor Sales when this photo was taken in 2010. By 2012, the statue was gone.

These Roosters in Cave City stand across the street from each other at competing cement statuary businesses, "Coffey's Concrete Products" and "Holder's Concrete World". [map]

The Rooster in Hennessey is located at Rooster's Honkytonk and Chicken Shack. [map]

The Rooster in Wichita is nicknamed D.W. "Big Ed" Buttermilk. The statue was installed on top of the building which houses the Donut Whole when the store opened in 2008. For more, see this website. [map]

The Rooster in Lansing was installed on top of the pole sign at Augie's Broasted Chicken. The restaurant opened in 2011 and this photo is from then. By 2016, Augie's and the statue were gone.

The Rooster in Cheshire was located on the roof of Country Charm restaurant. The restaurant was previously known as the Chicken Stop. At that point, the rooster was on the grass in front of the building. It was moved to the roof after college student abduction in the mid-1990s. This photo is from 2005. In 2008, the restaurant was put up for sale and the rooster was removed.

The Rooster in Otego stood in front of PD's Used Furniture. This photo is from 2005. By 2014, PD's had closed and the statue was gone.

The Rooster in Boise was perched on the roof of Jim's Coffee House. This photo is from 2014. The Rooster was still there in 2015. By 2016, the coffee shop and statue were gone.

The Rooster in Freedom stands in front of Barnyard Acres RV Park & Campground. This is a modern, aluminum statue based on the fiberglass statues. These metal statues have more detail.

The Rooster in Hubbardston has a little more interesting paint job than the others. He stands in front of Country Trail Antiques. [map]

The Rooster in Glidden wore a top hat much like his "broaster" cousins shown on the next page. He stood next to the Dairy Mart ice cream stand. Apparently, he'd been used for target practice. This photo is from 2006. By 2013, the statue was gone.

The Rooster in New Harmony stands in front of the Country Mark gas station. [map]

The Roosters in Lake George were just some of the many giant statues at Magic Forest. However, in 2018, the owner has decided to sell off all the statues at the park. This is the only giant brown rooster that I know of. Note the goofier style of the first and fourth rooster shown here. They are evidently a much rarer type. The Rooster in Peru stood in front of PK Distributing which sold lights, furniture, statuary, etc. This photo is from 2009. The business closed in 2014 and this statue is gone now.

The Rooster in Albany stood in front of this Maryland Fried Chicken location when these photos were taken in 2007. By 2011, the statue had been moved to the roof. [map]
