| This Firestone store was built in 1938. I have never seen another surviving Firestone building like this. In the 1970s, the Firestone letters were painted red and the building was painted white. At some point, the paint was removed revealing the building's original cream-colored porcelain enamel panels and the letters' earlier navy and orange colors. When the store originally opened, it sold appliances, bikes, radios, and gas in addition to tires. The store is now known as Mike Smith's Firestone. [map] |
