State Theatre
Kingsport, TN

2026:
The State Theatre was built in 1936 and closed in 1978. In the 1990s, the theatre was used as a Christian movie house, a dinner theatre, a nightclub, and a gym. Renovation work began in 2007. The marquee sign, a new ticket booth, and movie poster boxes were installed in 2010. In 2019, there was a new owner and the ticket booth and poster boxes were removed while restoration continues. The plan is to reopen as a live entertainment venue. For more, see this website. [map]

Martin, TN
The Varsity Theatre opened in 1949 and closed in 1987. It reopened in 1992 and closed again in 1996. In 2006, the building began housing a church. It now houses Dynamix Physical Therapy. For more, see this website. [map]
