former Spinners Laundromat

Spinners Laundromat occupied the space when this photo was taken in 2010. There was still a Norge panel sign and a broken Norge Village globe sign. By 2014, the panel had either been covered up or removed. The band on the Norge Village globe sign had been replaced to advertise for "Metro PCS". [map]

The Star Deli Food Store now inhabits this former Norgetown. The band was adapted. [map]

The other former Norgetown sign in St. Petersburg was adapted for the Wishing Well Laundry. [map]

The Norgetown sign at the Maitland Coin Laundry lives on. [map]

The Miami Norgetown's striped globe was on top of a pole in front of the store. This photo was taken in 2005. By 2012, the globe sign was gone.

The first former Norgetown in Largo shown above has housed a variety of businesses in recent years. It now houses Gulfside Pizza & Subs. This sign is still installed on the store's roof. For more, see this website. [map]

The second former Norgetown globe in Largo above was installed over the adapted sign for Michael's Food Store. By 2014, the band on the Norge globe had been painted to read "Pizza". In 2018, the globe was removed.

This former Norgetown globe in Ocala still had its stripes until 2019 when it was painted blue and the new band was created. The building now houses the Classic Laundromat. [map]

Norge Village Laundromat

This Norge Village Laundry globe sign is mounted on the roof. Although the paint had faded and mostly fallen off, the original Norge lettering was still visible on the band around the middle in 2007. In 2020, the band was replaced with one reading Lavanderia and The Laundry Room. The sign was cleaned up, relit, and spinning. Later that year, the building was badly damaged in a fire and closed. It has reopened as the East Morris Laundry. [map]

The Norge Village globe sign in Decatur was hidden behind the Georgia Dollar store sign. The building was vacant at that point when this photo was taken in 2009. By 2012, the Georgia Dollar sign had been removed and the band on the globe sign had been repainted to advertise for the new business below, the Atlanta Musicians Exchange (AME). This Norge Village globe sign at Mary's Coin Laundry in Marietta could still revolve but the city sign ordinances will not allow it. By 2015, the place had been renamed the Lint N' Buttons Coin Laundry. The text panels were gone but the globe sign was still there. By 2018, the name had been changed to Mary's Coin Laundry. The panel sign at this former Norge Laundry & Cleaning Village is still there but painted over a bit. The Norge Village globe sign that was there disappeared between 2007 and 2012. The business is now known as The Cleaners. [map]

This former Norge Laundry & Cleaning Village was built in 1961. The unique rooftop signs on the left and right of the central panel were installed then. The central panel had the standard, three-panel Norge Laundry plastic sign. I assume that there was probably a Norge Ball pole sign as well. The business is now known as the Wishy-Washy Laundromat. The panels shown above have been replaced with new ones but the spears remain. For more, see this website. [map]

The Vanity Box, a beauty salon, had adapted this sign. This photo is from 2008. The Norge Village globe sign was still there in 2011 but gone by 2014.

This other former Norge Village Laundry in Chicago was a boarded-up building when this photo was taken in 2009. By 2016, the building was in far better shape and the broken globe remained. [map]

The Norge Village laundromat was replaced with Inboden's Meat Market but the Norge Village globe sign remained for several years. It was one of the best-preserved globes that I have seen. However, it disappeared in 2007.

The Shop N Save Norge Village globe sign was also pretty battered when this photo was taken in 2008. By 2012, it was gone.

The Norge Laundry Village sign in Rockdale was an unusual shape. I had not seen one like this anywhere else. This photo is from 2009. By 2011, the sign was gone.

The Norge Laundry Village sign in Chicago is probably from the 1960s or 1970s. I have not seen another sign like this one. I don't know if there was a globe sign here originally. [map]
