Rustic Gardens Golf
Indianapolis, IN
Rustic Gardens Golf just might be the oldest mini golf course in the U.S. It was built in 1930 and, except for some minor changes in the early 1960s, remains virtually intact. There are two courses on the two acre site: one has 18 holes, the other has nine. The courses are scaled-down regular golf (only natural obstacles, no windmills and such). The greens are packed sand/limetone which was common for regular golf courses in the 1930s. The fairways are natural grass. The clubs used originally did not look like today's putters but had special heads to create loft and had wooden shafts.

Rustic Gardens Golf also has a modern driving range. The owners are looking to sell the property, which is still surrounded by farmland, for about $1 million. The buyers would have the option of continuing the business or demolishing it. The course was still operating in 2019. [map]

Richmond, IN
This Richmond Putt-Putt miniature golf featured two, nicely maintainted old courses. By 2019, the course had closed and the place was for sale. The greens were in bad shape but the sign was still there. The Putt-Putt chain was established in the 1950s. For more, see this website. [map]

Mishawaka, IN
This Mishawaka Putt-Putt miniature golf is a well-maintained oldie. There are three 18-hole courses. [map]
