The Windmill in James Island is located at the Plymouth Avenue boat landing. It was donated to the Riverland Terrace Garden Club and moved here around 1998. Does anyone know the history of this structure? [map]

The Holland Grist Mill in Milbank ws built by Henry Holland in 1884. It was completely reconstructed in 2009. The Mill is 44 feet tall. [map]

The Windmill in Gatlinburg may have been built for the Windmill Towne Shopping Center which is gone now. [map]

A small windmill has been installed on the roof of Mis Cazuelas restaurant since at least 2007. In 2023, the building began housing Casa de Chilanga and the windmill remains. Does anyone know what was located here originally? [map]

The small windmill on the roof of the Windmill Lounge appeared to be identical to the one at Mis Cazuelas. It had been there since at least 2008. The Windmill Lounge opened in 2005. By 2020, the building was housing the Medical District Tavern and the windmill on the roof was gone. For more, see this website.

Century Auto Sales had been here since 1970. The windmill sign was built for a real estate office in the late 1950s or early 1960s. There had been a used car dealership here since the late 1970s. The sign was still operational. In 2013, the building and signs were demolished for new development. The owner planned to sell the windmill on eBay.

The Windmill in Nederland is 40 feet tall and houses the Dutch Windmill Museum. It was built in 1969 and is located in Tex Ritter Park. [map]

I believe Jerry's Nursery & Garden Center opened in 1992. This windmill looks like it might be from then. [map]

The Old Dutch Store opened in 1978. The store sells food and gifts. In 2021, the building was repainted and a new windmill was being built. [map]

The Windmill Bank was built in 1974 for Heritage Savings and Loan. From 2007-2008, the building and windmill were renovated. The windmill's blades are turning again. The building now houses an EVB bank. [map]

The Dutch Mill Motel opened in 1927 as the Dutch Mill Motor Court with 25 cottages laid out in a semi-circle. Cottages were added over the years but by the 1970s, they were beyond repair and replaced with a more modern hotel room complex. In 1973, the Shelburne Camping Area was added behind the motel. The Auld Holland Inn has been here since at least the early 1960s. The windmill's blades still turn. [map]

The Windmill Inn Motel was built in 1950. [map]

The Windmill de Wijn is 72 feet tall and was built in 1987. The ground floor houses a gift shop. The three upper floors house The Dutch Village Inn. The blades turn and are lit at night. [map]

The Fairway Center windmill is 53 feet tall and was built in 2006. The base of the building houses Woods Coffee. [map]

This mini windmill is now missing its blades.

There is another small windmill in Lynden as well.

Max's Bar & Grill housed the building with the rooftop windmill when this photo was taken in 2015. By 2019, the building was housing El Asadero restaurant. Does anyone know the history behind this one? [map]

This small Windmill was built in 1999 by Clarence Montag just before he passed away. It was installed in a park next to the Snake River bridge that same year as a tribute to Montag. By 2023, it was gone.

The Ellensburg windmill was originally built as a gas station office. The property also included motel rooms. The building was still in use in the 1970s but has been abandoned since around 1991. Its last uses were as a radiator shop office and an espresso stand. It has been vacant for many years. By 2022, all of the blades were gone. For more, see this website. [map]

The blades on the former Faith Dairy windmill were still turning when this photo was taken in 2015. Later than year, the building began housing the WE Escape Drive-in. By 2017, the windmill was gone.

The Windmill in Cedar Grove was built in 1968 as a tribute to Dutch settlers in the area. It is located in Windmill Park. Although the windmill was never functional, the blades do spin. [map]

The Windmill in Baldwin is located in Windmill Park. It was built in 1987 and is used as the park's office and an information center. [map]

Tulipomania European Flower Market
Milwaukee, WI
The Tulipomania European Flower Market has occupied this windmill building since around 1999. It was built in the 1920s or 1930s by A.K. Eierman, a Dutch immigrant. I don't know what the building housed originally but, in recent years, it has been used as a real estate office, law office, and a candy shop. The blades spin and the dome revolves with the wind. The back part of the building is used as a residence. [map]

Windmill Ice Cream Shoppe

The Windmill Ice Cream Shoppe was built as a Sinclair gas station in the mid-1940s. The gas station didn't last long and the building was used as a burger joint. In the 1950s, it was known as Mrs. Magnus's Dutch Mill which sold candy and gifts. The Windmill Ice Cream Shoppe opened in the early 1990s. [map]

I believe the Windmill Square windmill was originally a restaurant. It was later used as a store but, as of 2007, it was vacant. There are other old thatched roof buildings behind it that are used for shops. Does anyone know more about this place? By 2018, the windmill building was gone. For more, see this website.
