The former Standard Oil station, aka Jim's Standard station, was built in 1922. Around 2003, this station was restored and used as a visitors' information center. In 2008, it housed Great Bakes Station, a bakery. The building was vacant when these photos were taken in 2011. By 2013, it housed a State Farm insurance office. The pole sign panel was replaced with a new one to advertise for the office. By 2021, the building was vacant and the Standard sign was back. [map]

This former Standard Oil station is most likely also from the 1920s. Just after these photos from 2005 were taken, the building was demolished and "recreated" to make more room for pumps and a convenience store. It had been an Amoco and is now a BP station. [map]

This former Standard Oil station was vacant for many years. Does anyone know more about this building? This building and the one in Burlington, IA on the next page are the only stations of this type that I know of with these central tower-like features. These photos are from 2009. In 2012, the building was adapted for use as the Red Crown Restaurant. For more, see this website. [map]

There was another [photo thanks Grosse Pointe Historical Society] Red Crown station in Grosse Pointe Park about two miles away. That station also had a central tower and an additional bay. It is gone now.
