former Sudden Service Station
Hopkinsville, KY
The Sudden Service Station was built in 1919. In 1935, the building was moved to its current site. In recent years, it has housed a donut shop, a vacuum cleaner repair shop, and a junk shop. The bay building at the right was a later addition. During the building's 2017 restoration, the bay building was demolished. The office building's roof was replaced and original eyebrow windows were replicated. The building will be used as a public restroom. [map]

This former station appears to share the same building design as the one described above in Hopkinsville. It housed the Diamond Petroleum Co. in the 1920s. This building has housed the Cherokee Animal Clinic since 1980. For more, see this website. [map]

This former station housed a Gulf station in the 1960s and 1970s. I don't know what brand was here originally. The building has housed the Above the Dirt garden shop since 2022. [map]

This former Standard Oil station was built in 1921. It remained in operation until 1956. The building was then used as a used car lot and a gospel music store. It was restored in 2008. The pumps and sign are replicas. [map]

former station
Paducah, KY
This former station was built in 1917, most likely as a Standard Oil station. It shares the same building design as the stations above. Although there is a Texaco sign on the lot, it was installed in recent years and is probably a replica. I don't know if this was ever a Texaco station. The building was restored sometime after 2007 and is used as an information and tourist center. For more, see this website. [map]

former station
Louisville, KY
This former station was built for Mid-Continent Petroleum in 1927. By the early 1930s, there was a Diamond Oils projecting neon sign installed on the roof. In the mid-1930s it operated as a D-X station. Around 1968, it was housing a Sunoco station. The office and restrooms were under the canopy. The building has been vacant for many years. The smaller building shown in the bottom row of photos above must have been used for service bays. For more, see this website. [map]
