Santa's Workshop
North Pole, NY
Santa's Workshop was designed by Arto Monaco and opened in 1949. This is the second oldest Santa themed park in the country. The oldest is Santa Claus Land, now Holiday World, in Santa Claus, IN. That park was built in 1946. Santa's Workshop was the inspiration for other Santa and non-Santa amusement parks. Originally, deer and sheep wandered freely throughout the park, making it the original petting zoo. Santa's Workshop closed briefly in 2002 but found new owners and was restored. The park features many Alpine-style buildings and children's rides. There are numerous shops, reindeers to feed and pet, and a post office. There is also a frozen North Pole.
