Triceratops Louisville, KY |
|
This Triceratops was one of nine, fiberglass statues displayed at the New York World's Fair from 1964-1965. At the fair, the statue's head moved up and down. When the Smithsonian rejected the statues after the Fair, they went to different cities. In 1968, this statue was gifted to Louisville. It was installed at different locations, including the Louisville Zoo, before permanently joining the Louisville Museum of Natural History & Science, now the Kentucky Science Center. At some point, the statues was named Lottie (Louisville's Own Triceratops). The statue was installed in the museum's parking lot until 2007 when it was moved to storage during construction. In 2022, the statue was restored and installed on top of the elevator tower in the parking lot. For more, see this website. [map]
