| The Old South Restaurant was built in 1947 by the National Glass and Manufacturing Co. These diners were built at the company's Fort Smith, AR factory and shipped in sections to their sites. There were at least five other diners built by this company but I believe this is the only one left. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2023, the building was gutted by a fire. It will most likely be demolished. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map] |
