Lee's Hawaiian Islander
Lyndhurst, NJ
Lee's Hawaiian Islander has two locations, both built in 1974. The Lyndhurst location offers karaoke on Saturdays and hula shows on Sundays. The interior is lush and sincere. [map]

The Clifton location suffered a major fire in 2003. That building was demolished.

Chan's Dragon Inn [gone]
Ridgefield, NJ
Virgin River Hotel & Casino
Mesquite, NV
Moai
Las Vegas, NV
Chan's Dragon Inn opened in 1962 and the interior was still original. Chan's featured Hawaiian music, a waterfall, outrigger canoes, lots of bamboo and Polynesian dishes. The business closed in 2020. In 2022, the building details were removed.

These two tiki statues are located at the Virgin River Hotel & Casino. There is nothing otherwise tiki about the place. Maybe there was a tiki bar here previously or these statues were moved here from somewhere else.

This 30-foot-tall Moai statue in Las Vegas was located at the entrance of the Stardust Hotel & Casino's Aku Aku Polynesian-themed restaurant which opened in 1960 and closed in 1980. In 1987, the statue was donated to the County and moved to an island in Sunset Park. For more, see this website. [map]

Frankie's Tiki Room

Waikiki Wally's [gone]
New York, NY
Waikiki Wally's opened in 2002 but it had an old-style tiki bar feel. The small space was packed with tiki art and atmosphere. Wally's had an original mural, a waterfall, and bar dioramas. These photos are from 2003. The place closed in 2009 and it became another bar. All traces of the tiki interior are gone.

Tiki Lanes
Lancaster, OH
Sunshine Chinese Buffet
Niles, OH
Omni Hut
Smyrna, TN
The Tiki Lanes has 1950s exterior tile and some island sunset murals inside. Unfortunately, the other tiki elements were removed around 1990. For more, see this website. [map]

The Sunshine Chinese Buffet was originally known as the Aloha restaurant. The building later housed the Panda House restaurant. The restaurant closed around 2014 and has been vacant since then. [map]

The Omni Hut Polynesian restaurant opened in 1960. Much of the decor was original. A major fire in 2000 damaged much of the interior but the restaurant reopened. In 2018, it was announced that the place was closing. It was still closed in 2021. [map]

The property was sold and the building will be demolished. In 2022, construction was going on but the sign and building were still there. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]
