Overton Theatre
Overton, TX
The Overton Theatre was built in 1938. It closed in 1965. It was used as storage for the Davis Furniture store which was located next store. The blade sign was painted over with the name "Davis" but, over time, that has faded back to "Overton." For more, see this website. [map]

Texas Theatre

La Vista Theatre
Pampa, TX
The Texas Theatre opened in 1921 as a vaudeville house. It became a movie house later on. The theatre was used for live performances in the 1980s until it closed in 1997. The La Vista Theatre opened in 1926 as the Rex Theatre. It was remodeled in 1935. In 1949, it was renamed the La Vista Theatre. It has been closed since the 1970s. For more, see this website. [map]

Grand Theatre

Plaza Community Theatre
Paris, TX
The Grand Theatre was designed by Jake Elder and opened in 1937. It closed in 1996 and deteriorated after that. The theatre remains closed. The neon sign was restored in 2008. In 2011, restoration work on the lobby and facade began. The building was still vacant in 2018. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

The Plaza Community Theatre was built as the Plaza Theatre around 1926. It closed in the early 1970s. Since 1981, the theatre has been used for live performances. The bulb sign at the top of the theatre is original. The lower marquee sign was destroyed in a storm and replaced sometime after 1984. For more, see this website. [map]

Capitan Theatre
Pasadena, TX
2011: 2018:
The Capitan Theatre was designed by Raymond F. Smith and opened in 1949. It has been closed since 1969. In 2013, the exterior and neon were restored but the interior remained in bad shape. In 2014, the signs were removed. In 2019, the building was painted beige. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

State Theatre

Ellis Theatre
Perryton, TX
The State Theatre closed in 1989. It was purchased in 1999 and then restored and reopened. However, the theatre closed again in 2004. It was apparently being used for live performances when these photos were taken in 2008. By 2011, the theatre was closed again. Renovation appeared to be taking place in 2013. By 2015, the manual letter readerboard had been replaced with a plastic panel. The theatre has been closed since around 2017. For more, see this website. [map]

The Ellis Theatre was built in or before the 1930s. This photo is from 2011. By 2013, the Ellis letters had been removed. The theatre closed in 2016 but reopened in 2018. The Ellis letters were reinstalled. In 2023, the sign was damaged in a tornado. The theatre has been closed since then. For more, see this website. [map]

Fair Theatre

The Fair Theatre opened in 1925. It was purchased by the City in 1994. It was restored and reopened in 1999. The theatre is now used for live performances. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map]
